Firsts

Last Friday will go down in history.

Lots of Firsts.

The first football game at the new stadium/pressbox.

The first time Bill Snyder has lost a home opener (we are still working on accepting it around our house).

The first football game for the baby.

And the first time I've been sober at a football game since I can remember.

Holy Belly

It was HOT folks.  I don't know how hot, but I know it was over 100 degrees.  I know that my legs were dripping sweat, which is not a good combo with self tanner....
And I know that my hair went into a ponytail the second after this picture was taken.

Another highlight of the day was walking by my boyfriend Rodney McGruder, like literally walking RIGHT by him.  I think my arm touched his.  Any other KSU event, I would have chased him down and forced a picture out of him.
I was sober.  I froze.  And then it was too late.
I should have told him I was carrying his child.  That would have made for a good picture. Especially with Tony, ya know- the real baby daddy, snapping it.

Coulda - Shoulda - Woulda -

Almost Time

A little post on pinterest this morning made me SUPER excited about the upcoming KSU football season.

BRING ON THE CATS!!

And the tailgates....

Flip It and Reverse It

After that title I can't stop singing lil' kims rap song from the 90's... anybody??

On Saturday we did an overhaul clean of our front closet.  Believe me, it was so necessary.  I should have taken before and after pictures.  I found two TWO k-state sweatshirts that I thought I had lost.

Do you want to know what else we found?  A K-State starter jacket.  Legit starter jacket.  I have no idea how it got into our closet.  I will tell you that it was Tony's and not mine.  I'd like to think his parents brought it up at some point to get it out of their house, and that he hasn't moved it around to 4 different houses since he was... 13.

As we were shuffling through the 28 coats deciding on what we could donate, we had a convo that went like this:

Tony: I feel like I wear most of these jackets still.
Me: Can we at least get rid of the k-state starter jacket?
Tony: Man, that thing carries around lots of memories...

I go to let Margo out in the backyard, as I turn the corner to the living room I hear 'Cal, we can't get rid of this, it's reversible!!!' and then I see this:

You better believe I made him prove that it was reversible.  And it is...

I told him we could mail it to Bill if that would make him feel better.  In which he replied, 'I think he already has it.'

Sorry folks, everyone is out of luck, it has a new home at the GoodWill.  If you hurry, you might be able to still get your hands on it!

Diagnosis: Depression

Welp this is as close as I'm getting to the Cotton Bowl...

Sporting my purple boots to work and slowly dying of jealously from all who are there.  I really hate my life today.  Pity party for 1 please.

GO CATS!!!  I'm there in spirit... almost in person, as I looked up last minute flights to Dallas this morning.  'Sorry, Tony I won't be home for dinner... I just landed in Dallas.'  Oh, how I wish!

Northface Debacle & Collin Klein rocks my world

I haven't talked about KSU football in quite some time. I also haven't blogged in quite some time.

The Cats are on a roll.  They are giving me super anxiety every freaking weekend with these close games.  And I love love love Collin Klein.  Did you know that he hasn't practiced in 2 weeks?  Before the A&M game and the Texas game... no practice.  He's probably trying to heal those poor arm wounds he keeps gashing open every weekend.  What a beast!

2 weekends ago, Tony and I headed down to the Little Apple on Friday before the A&M game.  We got to hang out in Aggieville, eat at So Long Saloon, and see a few of our friends.  Let me just say that Aggieville beat me up.  In a dual between me and Aggieville - The Ville won.
Here's some pictures of the night..

Anti-Drunk Dialer.  Genious.

My cousin Bridget met us out.  She's young, hip and in college.  And she got us free t-shirts...

And braided the bouncers hair...

The next morning on our way out of the door, Biggs said 'don't forget your fleece.'  I looked at her and said 'I don't have a fleece.'  She picked up a northface fleece off of her couch and said 'whose is this then?'.  Turns out, Tony had grabbed a pile of coats that was by ours from the bar when we left.  I thought it was hilarious and then we noticed another one sitting under it!  It gets better, Biggs checked one of the pockets and pulled out a pair of KEYS!!  We just stared at each other like 'oh shit.'  Luckily (or unluckily) the keys were attached to a work badge from the Vet center.  Biggs facebooked the girl and we brought the coats with us to tailgate.  Unfortunately they were both XL's and covered in horse hair, but I still wore one because it was FREEZING that morning.

Northface Snatcher
It was such an AWESOME game!  Quadruple overtime sure sobered me up for the drive home.  My hubby was happy :)

I can't wait to find out what bowl we are going to... our plane tickets are awaiting us.  GO STATE!!!

Frank Recruiting?

What do you suppose Frank Martin was doing hanging out with PitBull?  Wonder if they used a 'Kodak' for this snapshot?

*I have to give my hubs credit for this post.

Big 12 Tourney

Here's a fun little email I received and thought I would share in the spirit of the Big 12 Tourney.  I will be watching the game at work.  In the conference room.  Alone.  Think anyone would mind if I wheeled in a cooler??

GO CATS!

Fact #1: Follow Iowa State fans around on Wednesday. Ultimately, after they lose, you'll be able to pick up cheap tickets. Also, they'll most likely buy you a beer because they're unbelievably nice. They're like Canadians. They may actually be Canadians; I have no idea. I've never actually seen Iowa State in person, so I can't verify that it exists inside the continental United States. Regardless, they usually come down in sizable numbers and leave early because they don't want to be reminded about how far they've fallen as a program, and the fact that they hired the guy from "Thank You For Smoking" as their basketball coach.

Fact #2: Every single KU fan you run into actually went to Washburn or Johnson County Community College. None of them actually went to KU. The only real KU alumni in the building are actually working at the concession stands.

Fact #3: If you encounter a Nebraska fan, kindly point them towards Municipal Auditorium. They are lost and looking for the Women's tournament. Point them in the right direction and do your good deed for the day.

Fact #4: Colorado will bring more people to Kansas City on their team bus than fans who will actually make the trip. If you encounter a Colorado fan, take a picture and send it to the Missing Persons hotline in the greater Denver area because someone is obviously looking for them.

Fact #5: If you see a KSU fan with tags still on their clothes, they were borrowed from Pullen. :)

Fact #6: If you're wondering how a bunch of Target employees got bench seats, they didn't. It's actually the Texas Tech coaching staff. I know; I was confused too.

Fact #7: Texas fans in attendance could give a rat's ass about how the games actually go. They just flew up to Kansas City to have some real barbecue for a change.

Fact #8: If you talk shit to Baylor fans, they will start talking women's basketball smack. If you watch women's basketball, feel free to fire back. I have nothing to offer in that exchange, so I can't help you. Be careful you don't get stabbed.

Fact #9: Be nice to Missouri fans. They're your best ally in the Power and Light district against the crimson and blue onslaught. They're also most likely to lie to the cops on your behalf after you punch that KU fan in the face outside of Pizza Bar.

Fact #10: I literally have nothing to say about Oklahoma. I just think about their basketball program, and it makes me sad.

Fact #11: Oklahoma State fans will show up thinking they have a chance to win this thing. It's really, really cute.

Fact #12: Most Texas A&M fans will actually be Wichita State fans that haven't quite let go of Turgeon yet. If you see someone in a Wichita State shirt, you can probably bet money that they're rooting for A&M.

Fact #13: Should KSU and KU win on Thursday, John Higgins will call the KSU vs. KU game on Friday. KU will then shoot twice as many free throws as KSU and win by at least ten points.

(I obviously disagree on the last one, I have faith...)

Best Valentine Ever

No, not because my husband and I had a romantic evening at home.  We didn't even get to that.  Too much info?  (Sorry mom/gmother.)

The Cats pulled off a win against KU and we were there to witness this:

So amazing to be there even though it made for a late night.  Totally worth it!  I kind of regret my last post being so negative towards my boys, but I think I had reason.  Even when we were up by 20 points, I was almost convienced that we were going to find a way to eff it up.  I was way too nervous to be excited.  I would stand up to yell, sit down, stand up, sit down.  All night.  I probably worked off my dinner.  The people behind me probably appreciated this too.  For the record, KU has a bunch of thugs on their team!  I've seen them play on TV, but being there in person is a whole other story, they are dirtaay!  Did I not tell you it would be like a hockey game??  Thanks Markeef Morris.  Nice upper cut.
Of coarse we forgot our real camera so these are courtesy of Tony's phone.

We started off the evening at Mr. K's with some bevs with friends

I find it fitting that Pullen is on the ticket for this one :)

I had the Greek pizza, full of artichokes, kalamata olives, banana peppers, roasted red peppers, and goat cheese.  The pizza's were heart shaped yesterday, but of coarse I dove in to eat mine and forgot to take a picture before I had devoured half of it.

We also had the crab and lobster fondue but I ate the whole bowl before I even thought about taking a picture.  Best thing I've ever eaten, still.  No lie.

Lindsay told us after the game that Frank, all the assistant coaches and their wives had rented the place out.  I got a text picture of her and Frank at 1:40 am.  Jealous much???  I really wish I could have stuck around and pretended to be a waitress.  Seriously.

We had such a great time and of coarse the win was a big part of that.  I even stayed awake and talked to Tony on the way home.  Normally I snooze in the passenger's seat.  Wife of the year.

Marg got to go to school during the day, but when we got home she got some love too...

And then she pouted a lot b/c she missed us so much...

And the icing on the cake, or more my style - the ranch on the pizza, the lime in the beer, was this purdy little gift from my hubs.

It's the only heart shaped piece of jewelry that he knew he could buy.  We've been making fun of those Kay jewelers necklace commercials for years. :)

And if you are keeping track, he received a new electric razor.  Like I said, wife of the year.

Hope everyone else had a wonderful V-Day!!!

Purple Valentine's Day

Happy Valentine's Day!

I kind of hate this holiday for multiple reasons.

1. Red and pink do not go together.
2. I don't like chocolate
3. All restaurants are packed
4. Flowers cost about as much as a new flat iron

Three years ago we started a little something with a few couples in lieu of celebrating this holiday, a progressive dinner.  It was on Saturday.  Post to come on that...

So how are Tony and I celebrating tonight??  I've already told you we are not traditional...

I have a date with my husband AND my boyfriend:

McGrudy my love
Tony's completely fine with it considering I'll be about 20 rows up from him.

Yep, we are heading to Manhappy for the KSU/KU game.  I'm jetting out of work at about 3:00 and we are heading west on I-70.  Hip Hip Hooray!!  We're meeting friends at Mr.K's for dinner and 'tailgating'.  Yes, I believe you can tailgate for any occasion, even if it's inside.

I don't have high hopes for the game since our big players seem to be dropping like flies. Really Curtis Kelly, you couldn't wait another 2 months to smoke some pot?? (However I think he gets to play tonight). But I'm just excited to go.  It's my first game this year!  Tony's been going a lot and meeting his dad there which is so fun for them, but I'm ready to cheer them on in person instead of from my couch.  Plus, it seems like whenever we play KU it's more like a hockey game on the court and I'm a big fan of Jam Sam when he's fired up.

Let's GO boys!!!  Kick some hawk ass!!!

Look for me on TV... I'll be the one trying to sit on McGruder's lap...

Big Monday!

She also apologizes for her hair all over the blanket.

Game Day

I rushed home from the store on Saturday just in time for the KSU bball game, and just in time to see this:

Tony was suited up, ready to go in.  Marg even had on her game day bandana.  I love the KSU support we have in our home... until about 6 minutes left in the game.  If we had a swear jar, Tony would have owed it a pretty penny(ies) on Saturday.

Hope we foul way less play way better tonight.  We'll see how things start out, I might inforce the swear jar at half time.  However, my sailor mouth isn't much better.  I like to think of myself as a mini girl version of Frank.  I'm working on 'the stare'.

GO CATS!!!!

KSU vs. OSU

Yes, it's an old game post.  We lost.  But I really wanted to share some pictures from this weekend.  Here's Cait sporting the purple (first time in a KSU shirt ever).  She likes those chicken hawks east on I-70.

Mom and Dot Debes & Wilson

After the game, Cait decided she needed another hole in her ear.  I tried to talk her out of it, but as you can tell, I didn't do a great job of that.

Willy, my love, was at Porters.  I tried to give him my beer, and he totally wanted it, but that probably could get him fired and there's no way in hell I'm taking his spot doing pushups at the games...

Then we headed to Rusty's peanut bar where Biggs' tried on every person's Halloween costume that walked through to door.  This was the hit of night!

And she got assistance!

Dirks Digler??

She doesn't know him

Then there was Elmo

Can you tell me how to get... how to get to Seseme Street??
Another successful weekend in the Little Apple.  Do you think we are getting to old for it??

Coaches vs. Cancer

Last night we attended the Coaches vs. Cancer event downtown at the College Basketball Experience part of the Sprint Center.  We went last year and decided we would keep coming back!  The surrounding area coaches (KSU, KU, MU & UMKC) attend for a meet and greet, as well as a brief question and answer session.  They provide appetizers, which were delicious by the way, and most importantly there's a bar.  We happen to have friends on the board which happened to have a pocket full of drink tickets.  This combined well with the silent auction and all of the fun KSU stuff up for grabs.  Tony's name was written down for about 4 different things.  We 'won' the KSU basketball signed by all of the 2010-2011 players, which of coarse includes my little Pullen and cutie patootie McGruder.  John and Erin scored the sneakers that we got last year signed by Frank for little Wally's room.  Presh.  Some guy was lingering around that station waiting to jump in at the last moment and win the bid... the lady in charge swooped right in a took the paper before he had a chance to outbid the Brockus'... he was pissed.  We all laughed :)

Unfortunately we didn't get the chance to take a picture with Frank this year.  There was about twice as many people in attendance this year and he had his son with him after the Q&A session.  You may be surprised that I didn't ask him to put his son down for a picture with us... don't get me wrong, I thought about it... but fought the urge.  Sadly you all will not be receiving another Frank, Willy & The Lines Christmas card.  That one's gonna be hard to beat...
Here's John and Erin with the UMKC mascot.  Willy wasn't there this year and that made me mad.  I love Willy.  Post to come on that.  However, neither was Baby J which I could give a damn about.

Q&A Session with Norm Stuart.  L to R: Mike Anderson, UMKC coach (Sarah can tell you his name :) ), Bill Self, and FRANK!

Yes I know my camera takes terrible pictures...

 Just bein' Beasley...

Did I tell you I met him once?  At Pizza Hut.  He was thrilled to take his picture with us, see?

 Erin bein' Beas...

I really wish this was a KSU and a KU player...

You know what they say about big feet...  sick, I apologize for that comment.

This is the Coach's ball, ours looks the same except with all of the player's signatures in purple.

It was such a fun night and I'm excited to see how big it gets next year.  I highly recommend it.  It's for such a great cause that has affected each and every one of us in some way or another.  Prayers and more research are very much needed.

Let's see some of this tonight boys!!

Purple. Get Ready To Roll.

If any of you were wondering where my KSU pride is, it's still here I just haven't posted about it.  Here's some pictures to prove it.

Gin and I before the Missouri State game.  Love me some Kites pounders.  Well, really any pounders, but they seem to taste better at Kites.

Tony, Scottie Pie, and Kirkie (not sure why my hubs doesn't have a nickname yet)

I was waiting for Gina at our tailgate and looked up to see this...

Lucy was such a great tailgater.  She must get it from her mama.

Before Farmageddon at Arrowhead

Double fisting.  I must get this from MY mama.

The crew that day.  Verns, Rizzos, and us.

We had quite the interesting surroundings.  One fight between a young girl and an old man.  The chick hit the cop and he hauled her ass outta there real fast.  Another lady passed out and they carried her out on a stretcher.  Did anyone see if we won??  I was busy.  :)

And in closing...
You know how I know your gay???

Looking forward to the Nebraska game on Thursday!

GO CATS!!!
