Last week my driver's side car window decided it was going to break and get stuck in my door. Completely down. This hasn't been a problem because we haven't had rain. Until today. At lunch I was home when it started to pour. I attempted to leave anyways, but once I got about a block down I realized it wasn't happening, so I turned around and went home. I text my boss to ask if I could wait until it let up b/c broken window + rain do not mix. He said that was fine. So I swept the floor and cleaned the kitchen while I waited. Multi-tasking at it's best. It started to let up and I decided to make a move. I jumped in the car (towel in hand) and headed down the street. I got about 1/4 of the way to my office and it started pouring again. So I'm trying to hold the towel up to cover me (and the inside of my car) while driving and yelling FML at the top of my lungs. Fail. This is harder than it sounds. I felt like I was running through a sprinkler. Plus, everytime a car passed me, I got a blast of street water in my face. Which of coarse was followed by some more FML's. I'm sure you can imagine how pretty I look right now with my wet hair, wet face and wet shirt... which by the way is WHITE. Do you think it's inappropriate that I ran into work wearing a wet white tank top? Ohhh, it's not Wet T-Shirt Thursdays today?? My bad.
As Tony is laughing at me, he goes ahead and tells me that 'you should have press and sealed it'. That's why he's the Dr. However, then I would have shown up on one of those Redneck There I Fixed It emails.
I can't wait to get back into my car for the ride home... I'm sure my seat won't be wet.
Life is what we make it... always has been... always will be.

Botch Job
Well, I got my hair cut chopped last night. I mean I wanted it cut because it was getting so shaggy and I know when I can fit it into a ponytail that's the style it will be in until I get it cut. I am lazy when it gets to that point. So I tell her I just want it trimmed up, about a half inch off of the front and more than that in the back. My hair isn't long to begin with. She just kept cutting and cutting and cutting. Then I thought she was done, and she started cutting again! I hesitated to say anything b/c hello, she is the adorable cute hairdresser that knows what is cute and not cute, right? Wrong. At least my hair grows pretty quick, because I sort of feel bald now. I totally have a bob. A total Carol Brady bob. In fact, you might have to start calling me Bob since I look like a boy.
I would post a pic, but I chose to not wear makeup to work today. Sometimes I do that. It's fine.
Suggestions? I can't wear a hat... hello, Bob. Maybe I'll find some cute hair accessories... hello, gay Bob. I'm at a loss.

Ozarks
A couple of weeks ago we were able to head to the Ozarks with some friends. So nice of my grandparents to allow us to use their condo and boat! I honestly think the best thing in life is to be out on a boat at the lake with a nice cold bev. It's so relaxing! Here's some pics...
On Friday night we headed to the Horny Toad where I drank one too many lake waters (it's a drink) and I never thought my mouth would turn back to it's normal color. Blue teeth, blue tongue, blue lips...

Of coarse there was some icing on the trip... it just never gets old.
Out and about on Saturday
Out to dinner on Saturday night at Backwater Jacks. I ordered the chicken fingers. Then dinner came and I saw Emily's crab legs and decided I had to have those too. So fatty ordered not one, but two dinners that night. The waitress looked at me like I was insane. She's like, is there something wrong with your dinner? I said 'nope just want the crab legs too'. De-Lish!
I decided that (as Gina would say) Mama's gettin' old. I could barely get out of bed on Sunday morning b/c my body was so sore from the boat. I was physically in so much pain, but toughed it out just long enough to make a wine run on our way home. This amazing grocery store sells this great wine for super cheap so we all picked up a case as we were leaving town.
Wonderful weekend! Can you believe it's almost August already?? Where have you gone summer?!?!

FOUND IT!
Whew! That was a close call. I am no longer a dead woman! Ring is found and on my finger... and it may never leave. After searching the medicine cabinet 4 times, under the bed and in the bed twice, under the bedroom furniture, in the sink (thanks Kala!), all over the bathroom floor, in the kitchen (and kitchen sink), and in a bag of Margo's poop... we found it in the medicine cabinet. What. the. hell. I walked back into the bathroom thinking it has to be in the cabinet, and I looked and there it was just sitting there. Looking at me like hello idiot, I'm right here!! Mind you, Tony and I both pulled everything out of that shelf 4 times and looked there. I think we have a ghost. That is the only explanation for how weird this scenerio was. Surely it isn't that Tony and I are BLIND! Yep, we have a ghost. It's okay though, he must like me enough to give my ring back.
Thank God we found it!!!

Missing: One Wedding Ring
Here's my nightly routine, brush teeth, take off ring to wash my face, put ring on the medicine cabinet, wash face, go to bed, wake up, get ready, put on ring. All of those steps went as planned until this morning when it came to the last one. Put On Ring. Ok, great. If only I could FIND it!
I called the Dr. (hubs) at work just to make sure he didn't by chance take it to get it cleaned for me for any reason (I don't know why he would do that - I was just hoping). Negative. And he had more news that made me feel even better 'I don't think it's insured.'
So now my stomach is in knots and I feel like I could vom. The first thought that crossed my mind was my crazy ass dog ate it. Then I thought about calling into work. Can you do that? I know you can skip school because your dog ate your homework. Does it work the same way if you think your dog ate your wedding ring??
I didn't have much time to look this morning, b/c as usual I woke up at 7:45 and had to leave the house by 8:15. I am really good at procrastinating... So now I'm just hoping that once I have time to look for it, it will show up.
Another helpful comment from the Dr. 'maybe it fell into the toliet'. He's so optomistic.
Keep ya posted...

Top Chef??
My handsome hubs has been getting the urge to cook lately (and I love it). He usually tries to go all out when he fixes something because he doesn't do it very often. I secretly think he likes it, but will probably never actually admit it. Last week he decided to try out the pizza stone that I got him in January. I like giving suddle hints with my gifts to him. Hey babe, I love pizza - please cook for me. We decided we like it, so hopefully it will get some more use!
Half chicken pesto, half regular marinara with our fav toppings - pepporoni, pineapple, and jalapeno!
This is making me HUNGRY!!

De Ja Vue
My parent's friends, the Marmie's, daughter got married this weekend. The reception was at the same place as Tony and I's. Great to attend another wedding there and see the similarities and differences! It was fun to re-inact it! Well, we didn't get married again (at least I don't think we did). Cocktail hour, including a magician, took place before the reception started... at 4:00. Makes for an early celebration! We headed up to the reception room to dinner and the dance. The groom is Dominican so their first dance started slow and then moved into a salsa like performance. Absolutely adorable!
Here's a few pictures of the party:
My dad with his crazy friends... they were all in good shape at this point.
My mama and I.
Handsome hubs
Mom and pops. My dad kept telling people he was going to serve ice cream outside of the building after the dance b/c of his sear sucker suit. He wore that same suit to church every single father's day as I was growning up. I kept invisioning the scene on Father of the Bride when Steve Martin tries to get into his wedding tux and it rips in two...
We ended the weekend with going to my parents house for brunch on Sunday morning after the wedding. Nothing a tequila sunrise and breakfast burrito w/ fresh salsa can't fix!!

Popular Puppy
Here's the birthday outfit I bought for Marg. Target clearance. I just couldn't resist. Please note that this is a size Large and it was completely too small for her! We had to rip the arm holes to get it on her.
Shortly (very shortly) after we got it on her, we realized it wasn't happening. She hated it.
Really hated it!!
It was fun while it lasted :)
Here are her party favors for the other pups.
Look at this cute KSU bone. It was her dad's favorite.
And check out her loot!! Spoiled puppy.
Too bad I couldn't get a pic of all of the dogs together... it was a mad house. 8 total. Thank God it wasn't raining and they all could stay outside!!
'Yes I love good cold beer, and mustard on my fries...'
Last Thursday about 4:30 in the afternoon, Rachel brings up going to the free Eric Church concert down in P&L. We decided, why not??
Cheers!
The aftermath...
We didn't have great seats, so we stood on a little ledge... until we got kicked off... twice.
What a fun little Thursday!!

O.N.E.
Yesterday was Margo's first birthday! Her real party is tomorrow night... her friends are coming over. Here are some pictures. Marg will narrorate.
Present #1 - 'what the crap is this? I'm allowed to rip this up??'
Present #1 - 'what the crap is this? I'm allowed to rip this up??'
'Oh it's a toy. It squeaks! All of my other toys I have torn the squeekers out in 3-5 minutes, lets see how long this one takes'
Present #2 - 'Another one?? Best. day. ever. Screw the squeeker toy, what's in here?'
'A bone a bone a bone!! I'm so tired after my walk, I need to lay down and finish unwrapping'
'I love both of my presents. Stop taking pictures...'
'Seriously, stop taking pictures...'
Look at my pretty toenails. It's my birthday and my mom is crazy. Don't make fun. I'm a little embarrassed, but not as embarrassed as dad will be when he takes me to the vet tomorrow!!

Pout Face
I'm sad and mad. I just received terrible news that the American Idol concert in KC has been cancelled. WHAT??!! How do they do that?? I've already bought my tickets, printed them, and taken off work early that day. That doesn't even compare to what Emily already did - she booked a flight around the concert. Is missing a rehersal dinner on Friday to go to the now non-existant concert, and flying to Colorado for a wedding on Saturday morning at 6 am.
I didn't know they could just cancel shows after people had bought tickets. I mean, I'm sure Bret Michaels did after his medical issues and I guess Elton John did when his band member died... but they re-scheduled.
Ok, this isn't the worst thing that could happen to me, but I am officially effing bummed.
So long sweet Lee... Peace out Mama Sox - I really wanted to hear you sing Alanis Morsette's 'you otta know' again. But that's not going to happen. I think I'll sit at home that night and watch the finale. If only I would have kept it on my DVR.

Scentsy
Check out my website for more info! https://callie.scentsy.us/Home
Some neat things about how Scentsy compares to regular candles:
- It is wickless and flameless. The wax is melted by a lightbulb in the warmer and plugged into the wall. It can remain turned on at all times with no need to worry about anything catching on fire.
- The wax will only get to about the same temperature as a parafin hand wax dip, so it won't burn or harm anyone. No worries with kids or pets in the home!
- The wax is a food-grade petroleum based wax. We only warm the scent out of the wax - the wax remains in the warmer, thus there is no danger of soot being released into the home. You know the black smoke that is put off while burning regular candles that can stain the paint or ceiling? None of that with Scentsy.
- The wax can easily be removed from the warmer with a butter knife once the wax has cooled.
- Each Scentsy bar contains 8 cubes that you can divide into different warmers or mix and match scents. Each large-sized burner can melt 2-3 cubes at a time. Mid-size uses 1-2. Plug-ins use 1 cube.
I'm not a pushy person, nor am a sales woman, and don't want any of you to think you have to buy anything from me - so no pressure! But, if you would be interested in hosting a party, let me know. It could be a fun girls night with cocktails! Hosts receive a discount and other fun things!!
Bride To Be!
Welp, it happened. He proposed. She said YES!! Gina is engaged!!!! I can't begin to tell you how happy I am for her. She has been patient... like really patient. :)
Kirk proposed on the 4th of July. Suprise #1 - He asked her at a park with her ring tied to their puppy's collar. Suprise #2 - Gina's family and friends were waiting at their house when they got back from lunch.
Leave it to our friends to 'ice' the newly engaged couple:

Showing off the BLING. And believe me, it is BLING!!
Bride and Groom champagne covers
Megan made them a sign - it was really cute :)
The slip and slide party Gina thought she was having was actually her engagement party!! The box said Ages 5-12. We thought it was odd, it didn't just say 5+. Evidently, this was for 2 reasons - 1. it was the shortest slip and slide in the world. And 2. Emily tested it out and can barely move today. There is a maximum age because our old bodies can't handle it.
Congrats Gin - I love you!!!

Driver's Ed
Here's what I passed today on the road...
Yes, that is a brand new Camry with casual 'student driver' bumper stickers on the back. Maybe it's because I grew up in the middle of Kansas and we practiced driving in the GB cemetary, or maybe it's because I took Driver's Ed in 1999, or MAYBE it's because people used to think vans were safer and that 2x4 triangle yellow sign on the roof warned people we were coming, but today I found myself thinking - what the hell?!?!
We drove around in this:
With THIS on the top:
Not to mention the Bend is a small enough town that everyone knew who you were when they passed you. Also, if we would have had those cute little camry's, my lovely friend and driving partner Biggs wouldn't have ran over that grave stone... I'm sure of it.
