New Dog?

Negative.  When I got home last night the dog wasn't in our backyard.  Apparently the owners came and picked her up.  Of coarse I wouldn't know this for sure because there was NO note and they didn't call Tony to say they were picking her up.... or Thank You for saving my dogs life!  Rude.  I'm still kind of mad about it.  Rude.
Sooo yes Marg is still an only child.  For now.  :)

R.I.P. Gloria

Margo's larger than life frog friend Gloria had a rough Monday.

Peace out G, you were a good frog.

Uh Oh

Tony called me over lunch saying that he almost hit a dog by our house twice and then witnessed 3 other cars that almost hit it too.  Being the loving dad he is, he had to save it.  With the help of the mailman (I would have loved to see this combo)  he caught her and put her in our backyard with some water.  He was just warning me that if I get home and there's a dog in the backyard, it's okay.
I hope she's not cute or Marg might have a sister...........

Inappropriate

Last night I was asked to help out bartending at a Duck's Unlimited auction again.  Emily and I only had to pour the beer, which started out foamy rough.  We got the hang of it pretty fast and even had a few 'nice pour' s.  We were listening.
After the event was over one of the guys said 'did you know Brodie Croyle was here?'  I'll admit that I didn't recognize him but I did think this one guy looked familiar and it turns out that was him.  He looks totally different without a helmet full of dirt.  Like I've said before, I have issues with 'famous' people.  It's a good thing I didn't know that was him while I was pouring his beer or I probably would have said something completely inappropriate like the time Trent Green sat beside me at church and I had him autograph my Easter program...  true story.  Did I mention it was during a prayer?  See, I'm totally inappropriate.

Holy Flashback

.. to the 90's.  Please check out Krista's post today.
I have no idea how she remembered all of these things, but I loved re-living them.

There was one thing not on that list that I just remembered.  Did any of you ever write 'I heart (but drew the heart) bf's name' on your hand?  I think I permanently had 'I heart Blake' written on my hand for almost 2 years in middle school.  You would write over it each day.  I'm surprised it isn't still tattoo'd on me.  Which would be funny considering he is like my best guy friend... and because I'm married.  If you didn't have a boyfriend you'd write 'I heart S.O.S.'  (someone special).  This is what the cool kids did in GB, folks.  We were easily entertained.

I gave myself a challenge for the day (it's slow at work).  To attempt to fold those damn oragami notes we thoughtlessly folded 18 times a day and passed around.

I took pictures for your enjoyment.  It won't take you long to realize that I completely failed.  After 87 attempts and at the cost of a small tree, I googled it.  No instructions on 'oragami note folding in the 90's.'

Really??
Ok, now it's your turn... seriously try it.  I was getting so frustrated!!

Thanks for reading!  LYLAS!

Baby B's Here!

I'm going to have to get used to not saying Baby B... he has a name now!!

Wally Rocky Brockus came in at 7.2 lbs on 9/10/10.  Mama and baby are wonderful!  John and Erin will be the best parents in the world (until Tony and I have kids of course.... Riiight)

We brought them dinner last week and I only snapped a few pics... should have gotten more.  I told Erin I'd blog about her baby since she won't set one up herself and I don't have kids of my own, obv.

Precious little Wally.  I smile every time I say his name.  I think it's adorable.

Tony's first time to hold a new born baby...
I told him he can practice with their baby so he's a pro by the time we have babes.  Actually, I whispered it.  Wouldn't want Wally's parents to know he's a first timer :)

Tosscars

Every big weekend in the summer we head to the middle of nowhere Kansas Kanopolis Lake.  Tony's parents have a cabin there, as well as his aunt and uncle.  It's like a little town of it's own where people ride around on 4 wheelers and golf carts with a drink in hand and everyone knows everyone.

On Labor Day there is an annual washer tournament consisting of about 30-40 people.  I think this was the 11th year to do it.  I have not been in the family that long, but have participated in the last 7.  (yikes!)  Names are drawn for partners to exclude the 'power couples'.  And the drinks begin flowing.

A different couple is in charge of the tourney each year.  Responsibilities include, picking a theme, providing decor for your theme, and buying the hamburgers and hotdogs for the BBQ afterwards.  This year the theme was Tosscars (like Oscars, but TOSScars b/c you toss the washers... get it?)  Had to break it down for my slow readers.

Here are some pics:

Tony and I went as Charlie Sheen and Denise Richards.  Post fight.

Andy and Andie on the red carpet

Some cross-dressed competitors

My MIL.  Love this!

Lindsay Lohan made an appearance

So did the papparazzi

Announcing partners and the opening ceremony (it's serious people)

Jake and I were partners... and twins.

Action shots.

Marg even got to hang out for awhile

And now the whole reason Washer King my husband wanted me to post this.  He made it to the finals against...... me.  See, he's never won before.  Been so close, but always gets his heart ripped out at the end.  I hear about it every year.  The entire 3 1/2 hr. ride home.  I have won before and usually take this opportunity to rub it in a little.  Or a lot.  So this was a big deal that we were neck and neck in the finals.  The first game he wouldn't throw against me, he chose Jake's side.  I think he was scurred.  We (the good guys) ended up losing.  The second game, he wanted to throw against me, maybe he saw my weaknesses or just wanted to trash talk in my ear.  Jake and I (the good guys) started ahead and I could forsee game 3 in our future.  Then Washer King tossed anddd DUNK.  Seriously, a dunk is 5 points.  I was pissed.  We lost by like 2, maybe 3, I stopped paying attention.  I was too busy throwing punches at my husband.  We already looked the part, might as well act on it.
Sooo he won (finally).  And I lost (b/c I love my husband and felt sorry for him)  Orr I just lost.

It kills me to post this picture
In the awards ceremony, he got the trophy and I got the sorest loser award.  I'm fine with it.

Last year Tony and I were in charge and our theme was the Master's of Washers.  Everyone was in golf attire and held up signs that said Quiet!  WTF?!  and Shut the hell up!   For some reason I can not find any pictures...

The year before that was Pirates.  I was the WINNER this year.

I loved our shirts

Other years (that I also can't find any pictures of at the moment) have been Jungle, Wild West, SuperHero's, and Rock & Toss.  Here are the score boards from a few of them.

Best tradition ever!

You know how some people say pets look like their owners??

I witnessed this yesterday:

Bottle Poppin'

As I have mentioned, I hate buying expensive toys for my beautiful puppy.  She demolishes them in no time flat.  She's pretty crafty.  I still pick her up toys randomly, but only if they are the right price (basically if the $$ is worth 15 minutes of fun)
In the mean time, I've come across the best 'toys' ever.

Anyone else use milk cartons as dog toys??

The same goes for water bottles, 2 liters, etc.  Cheapest toy ever, although I should put a disclaimer on this... they can be rather loud and annoying at first.  Don't forget to remove the caps and ring around the top!!

Thirsty Thursday

Whew last night was a random one!
After work I met Krista at Maloney's for happy hour and to give her her Scensty.  Great time and I got to hear about her NYC adventures!

I ran home to pack b/c we are leaving for the lake today.  Meanwhile Emily called to see if Tony and I wanted to meet her and Dave at P.Otts for some drinks.  Vern was on his way over to hang out with Tony (neither of them had to work today - lucky), so they both decided it would be fun to go and off we went!  Little did we know... it was Kareoke night.  Which turns out is right up Dave's alley.

He sang a little Johnny Cash.  And then he heads back up without telling us his song and we hear:
 Everybodyyyy.... Rock your bodyyyy....
I about peed myself.  Dave is singing Backstreet Boys to the whole bar.  It's a good thing Emily was there with him or people would have questioned his sexuality fo sho.  I haven't seen Tony laugh that hard for a long time.

We were a great audience...

Until.........

Summer Lovin' from Grease came on.  I told Em she could be the girl.  After we were done, I came back to the table and asked Tony how we did.  He said, after you stopped trying to sing like a man the first few lines, you sounded 'better' .   In my mind I was the best John Travolta impersonator ever... I guess not.

Seriously, couldn't get them away from the mic.

And in closing...

I'm a Chicken

Last week we had a yogurt happy hour in our building.  Granted this is not as exciting as a real happy hour, but it was free yogurt and got me outta the office briefly.  It started at 3 and I went down to the lobby at 3:05.  Of coarse there was already a line.  You should see the people that work in my building... lots of large people taking the elevator from the 1st floor to the 2nd.  So, I got in line and saw this guy standing about 4 ft. away from me against the wall and thought he looked familiar.  I did a quick double take and realized 'that's Wes from the Real World!!!'  This is as exciting as it gets at my office people, and I was really excited!
A little background info.  I am slightly overly obsessed with the Real World Road Rules Challenges.  I've thought about applying to the Real World for the sole purpose of ending up on those challenges!  I think I would be really good at most of them.  Of coarse, that's easy to say when I'm watching dumb girls that have never done anything athletic in their entire lives attempt to climb a rope ladder  on TV from my couch.  Anyways, Wes has always been one of my favorites.  I know everyone hates him, but I love how he stirs stuff up and is soo competitive and cocky.  I would want him on my team.
Back to my real life encounter -  so I'm standing in line and realize that it's him.  I started to kind of freak out and the thought crossed my mind that maybe I should run back up to my office and grab my camera.  Then my conscious kicked in and told me that was a creepy stalkerish idea.  So there I stood.  Just waiting in line to get my yogurt and not talking to anyone.  I was playing out what I could say to him after I got through the line (he was kind of at the other side of the yogurt table where I would end up).  Got my yogurt, looked at him and smiled and then just turned around and went back to my office.  Fail.  I know I know, but I would have totally said something stupid and/or inappropriate if I would have opened my mouth so it's probably for the best.
After I got into my office I told my co-worker who I know watches the challenges too that Wes was downstairs.  He didn't believe me.  When he came back we were talking about it and I was telling him my crazy idea of wanting a picture with him.  I decided to take my phone and head to the balcony on our level that overlooks the lobby.  I ducked and with phone in hand lifted my arm up above the railing.
Here's the outcome...  I tried to blow it up, but it's still hard to tell.

In the end turns out that I am a little stalkerish. :)

Oh and he doesn't work in my building, but his mom does.  I talk to her like every other day and had no idea she was his mom.  Now I know and maybe there will be a picture opportunity in the future.  Anddd the yogurt was from his new yogurt shop he started in KC - Mochi-Yo.  Check it out!

End of August!

As sad as I am about summer ending (I consider the end of August the end of summer), I am very excited for football season to start.  Football parties, chili, tailgating, and the Bill Snyder Family Stadium.  Yes, please.

We had a fun filled weekend consisting of a great combo of activities and laziness.

Friday night, we had a girls night to celebrate Gina's birthday and to mourn the fact we should have all been at the American Idol concert that was cancelled.  We started off a RA where we couldn't for the life of us get a table, headed to Paddy's and left after a few drinks because the fans were so loud we couldn't hear ourselves think, and ended up at P.Otts (our love).  We should have known :)

Christy was in town!!

Emily got the hiccups
In case you haven't heard of this remedy.  If you can't get rid of your hiccups, do a hand stand and have someone feed you beer upside down.  (oh and have someone take pictures)  It really is a miracle worker...

Ta-da!!  Works every time.

View my previous post to see how the night ended :)

Saturday consisted of a lot of couch time, some house work and Tony doing yard work.  We wanted to go out for dinner, and decided on Chili's.  Neither of us had been there for over a year and we were craving their queso.  Can someone tell me when Chili's became the new Montana Mikes??  85% of the people eating there were morbidly obese.  I had to squeeze by this HUGE man just to get to my table.  We were discussing this over our margarita's... and then our food came.  We were laughing so hard and had to take a picture.  Seriously, could we have fit anything else on our table?!

After Chili's we went by Blockbuster and picked up the first season of Lost.  Just what I need... another series to get addicted to.
It was a fun date night that reminded us of college.  Chili's and Blockbuster.  If only we would have finished the night playing power hour it would have been ideal :)

Sunday we met John and Erin at Johnny's for lunch.  Our last lunch without baby B.  He should come this week or next!!  We were debating where the stroller would fit in at the table.  I can't wait to meet him!

Tony and I took Marg to the dog park in the afternoon.  As we are walking up with our crazy and excited  pooch... Tony says, 'look how good all the other dogs are being...they are in for a shocker'  Turns out, she really surprised us.  She only jumped up on one lady and didn't eat any small dogs.  Success!

Then Tony made me pull weeds when we got home.  He thought we should document it since I was contributing to the yard work.

Mean Monday

I like the title for my new Monday posts.

Gina is the winner this week, after we went out for her birthday and ended up finding her inside like this:

Baby Nivens

Tuesday I went to a baby shower/dinner for my friend Sarah.  She lives in Columbia, MO now with her hubs who was in dental school with Tony.  We miss them!  She was in town for work so we decided to get some people together and go to her fav restaurant - Blue Moose.

Such a cute little mama!  Due with baby girl Nivens in October, so soon!!

Little Ugg booties.  Seriously, whenev I have kids I have to have a girl at some point.  Little girl things are SO presh!

Me with Sarah, Jess and Natalie.  Notice Natalie and I's wine bottles to-go... $10 bottle of wine night, can't beat it!

Congrats Sarah!  Can't wait to meet the little princess!
